THE WATERS
There are several waterbodies spread across Gylranor. The Althzian Sea, typically cold, lies above Barbatius and the Naros Archipelago. Further south is the very warm Ealeac Ocean, which touches the lower regions of Barbatius and the outskirts of Saluron. The narrow and deep passage between Barbatius and Saluron is known as the Great Chasm. Sailing east from Argoth leads to the Sea of Sorrows, which occupies the area between Barbatius, Saluron, and the northern coasts of Masegenethh. Between Saluron and Eradell lies the temperate Dane Ocean.
Looking farther south on the Mundolith (globe) from the Dane Ocean, one encounters the Melendil, an ocean that separates Tinith’s eastern coasts from Eradell’s western shores. To the west of Tinith lies the Baldir Ocean, stretching from Eleimora to the eastern beaches of Insetia. Nestled between Eleimora and the southern shores of Nell is the frigid, icy Sea of Briss.
Heading north from Insetia, one reaches the Dwarvic Ocean, a mild and occasionally warm body of water that separates Hilrayn from Uln Alzor. A notable feature of the Dwarvic is the Sea Kelp Forest of Arandur, which spans from the Bay of Ilthalas to Myryv, an isle of Hilrayn. Many travel from across Gylranor to admire the forest’s aquatic splendor. Sailing westward from the Sea Kelp Forests, before reaching Macros, one finds the entrance to Mazgadar’s Strait. This narrow waterway leads into the Embis Sea, known to many Dwarves as the Heart of Uln Alzor. Venturing farther west across the Embis brings travelers to the mouth of Mazgadar’s Gateway. This waterway—similar in narrowness to Mazgadar’s Strait—divides Edea from Uln Alzor’s Valley of the Thanes and cuts through Masegenethh, eventually ending in the Ealeac.
For those who choose not to traverse the Strait, continuing north past the island of Macros and Ururazan (Isle of the Ancients) leads back to the warm waters of the Ealeac.
